About A Season of Clear Shining
Hymns • Memory • Hope
Long before we can explain what we believe, we often learn to sing it. Hymns carry Scripture, theology and the memories of people and places that have shaped our lives. Their familiar words and melodies accompany us through celebration and sorrow, uncertainty and hope, acquiring new meaning as the years unfold.
A Season of Clear Shining grew from this inheritance. Inspired by The Hymns That Carry Us, an evolving collection of personal reflections on Christian hymnody, the website offers a quiet sanctuary where faith, music and memory meet.
Its author grew up in a Caribbean home where faith was sung before it was explained. A lifelong involvement in Christian worship, music and service, alongside a career in international diplomacy, has deepened an appreciation of the ways hymns transcend generations, cultures and Christian traditions.
Through the Hymn Shelf, Light Reading, special contributions and Clear Shining Radio, we explore the stories, biblical foundations and enduring appeal of hymns, while inviting readers to share their own memories and reflections.
Above all, this is a place to rediscover the songs that have accompanied us, to find encouragement in their messages, and to celebrate a shared treasury of faith.
May the words, music and memories gathered here help steady our faith for the unknown tomorrow.
